International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) These regulations apply to the provisions of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA). The Department of State interprets and enforces ITAR by controlling the export and import of Defense services and associated articles. These provisions protect the US national security and US foreign policy.
